Care Aide - Roles and Responsibilities

Inservice Summary

Home care aides give assistance to clients who need help with activities of daily living (ADL) such as medication self-administration, bathing, dressing, eating, and personal hygiene. These are relatively easy tasks when you have the physical ability to do them. But helping someone to get out of bed, ambulate, wash up, and use the toilet requires knowledge, skill and planning. This course will provide home care aides with the information they need to safely and effectively assist their clients with selected ADL.

After completing this inservice, the learner will be able to:

  • Identify functional activities of daily living
  • Describe risk factors for falling
  • Identify complex activities of daily living
